About
ABOUT MICHAEL
Born in Australia, Michael grew up in and around the pristine waters of Merewether Beach in Newcastle. Sandy and salt-crusted, he began his career in the camera department of the film industry as a teenager and quickly rose through the ranks, graduating to Director of Photography in his early twenties. After a few years of shooting commercials, he turned his hand to directing and created award winning campaigns for some of the world’s leading brands including Gatorade, United Airlines, Colgate Palmolive and Sony.
After relocating to New York, Michael’s dual passions of food and photography emulsified like a zesty salad dressing. Traveling extensively and working with some of the leading players in food and hospitality, Michael brings his visual fluency and deep culinary expertise to every project, capturing a powerful sense of place and taste. His cinematic lighting and innovative use of color and texture create evocative images and transporting emotions.
His work has appeared in many publications including Vanity Fair, Travel+Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, Domino, Afar, Coastal Living, Elle Decor, Style Observer, WWD and Departures.
Michael lives in downtown Manhattan with his wife and a kitchen that is way too big for his apartment.
